So the big news in the wine world is the announcement of Krug's new luxury cuvee Clos d'Ambonnay. It is comprised of 100% Pinot Noir from a small vineyard they bought in the early 90's. The first vintage is 1995 and will be released in the spring I believe. 300 cases for the world. Oh yeah there is a price for this wine. It will retail for around $3,500 a bottle. As soon as LVMH bought Krug you knew they would go down this road. First LVMH wanted them to increase production and they only said 10%. LVMH wanted more. Then LVMH asked them to increase prices to offset the lack of increased production and they happily obliged. The label also changed on the NV Krug too. Much uglier if you ask Krugistes and the quality not as good as the old label if you ask me. So with the price increase and with the eminent release of Clos d'Ambonnay you have the final jewel in the super luxury branding of Krug. Oh well . . .another wine to cross of my list. I hate LVMH.

For that price I'll rather buy 9 Bottles of Billecart_Salmon Clos Saint-Hillaire Blanc de Noir, also very small production (330 to 600 cases of 12 depending on the year) coming from an unbroken and enclosed grand cru vineyard.

Well, admittedly, "Clos d'Ambonnay" is a bit long, as phrases for rapping go. But I can imagine it being much easier to rhyme than "Krug". You know, niche marketing is an ever-evolving art...

Ron Rosania will take a 12,000,000 bottles.
Gabrio,
Sounds better than Krug for sure.
