What is this a TN for and why do I have a problem with it?

"The wines started with an excellent_____________that was dry, crisp, and pleasant for palate cleansing purposes."

Not such an inspiring tasting note. Sounds like an average run of the mill ho-hum wine.....except that this TN is written by the most important and influential wine critic in the whole world and in many people's opinion the wine he is writing about is considered one of the most important and age-worthy wines of this particular region.

So who is this wine critic and what is the wine and why am I so pissed off about it? Love to see some comments on this. I will post the answer to all three questions in the coming days.

  1. Interesting Lyle, i've not tasted their whites, but have been told they are not as noteworthy or important as the reds. Which are of course, fantastic.

  2. Slaton,

You are right about the wine and I am sure you know the reviewer. The whites need LOTS of age to strut their stuff. Oaky in their youth but with age they are profound. The reds are better but the white is one of the top wines of the region!

I will post on this tonight with my answers.
