My first so-so 2005 Beaujolais . . .

. . .granted I have not one of 654.98 Duboeuf bottlings but I was dissapointed in the 2005 Domaine de Vissoux Fleurie "Poncie." It was hot. There was alot to like. Don't get me wrong. Silky blue cooling fruit. Very ripe. Wonderful juicy tannins but the heat never went away. Even after three days. I have actually not enjoyed many Fleuries from the 2005 vintage. Was not nuts about J.P.(Terres Dorees) Bruns or Chignard. What is interesting is that in 2004 I was nuts over the Chignard and Brun Fleurie. I think heat is what kills it for me in most wines I don't like that are not spoofulated. I am very sensitive to it. That's why I do not like port....and to a larger extent hard liquor.

  1. You will have to negotiate this one with Florida Jim. See the "Good and Bad" thread on therapy. And he is no gob-hound.

  2. I had the same response to this wine. Lacked a bit of structure for me, plenty of fruit though.

I posted on therapy about it.
