Had the
2004 Kronsberg Grosses Gewachs. This is one of Herr Wirschings two great vineyards along with Julius Echter Berg, and for me is the sleeker more minerally one while the Julius Echter Berg has more power and richness. This had a wonderfully floral nose with lavender, white flowers, a touch of citrus and deep minerality. The palate had the typical intensely crunchy minerality of Kronsberg and wonderful elegance and purity with a finish a mile long. The acidity was very tense and not for everybody as it was not shy. The palate had very nice fruit but the sleek mineral frame was where it was at for this wine. An infant right now but with a bright future.
