Got a new itinerary and noticed that three appointments have been changed. Haag, Haart and Keller have been nixed and replaced by Grans-Fassian, Wittman and Gehring who I have never heard of. I'll admit it the Keller redirect hurts but Wittman is a great estate (that Albalonga TBA is a true freakshow of a wine) and I do like Grans-Fassian (great Piesporter Goldtropfchen). Haart and Haag rock and I was looking forward to seeing Olivier and Wilhelm Haag. From what little Fritz Haag '06's I have tasted they all have been spectacular. Theo Haart's 2006's are great too with the Wintricher Ohligsberg Auslese Erste Lage being absolutely the best Mosel Auslese I tasted at the Rudi Wiest event back in June. Was really looking forward to taste that again. I am still wickedly excited (Boston accent coming out there) to be going to Germany for the second year in a row. Two days and counting. Plus I get to fly Lufthansa which is the best airline. A relaxed cabin feel can be enjoyed with a couple glasses of Henkel Sekt while I am over the Atlantic. Hmmmmmmm.....Henkel.
And so the great Keller debate must be settled on another day...
ReplyDeleteToo bad about Haag. Still a great trip, though.
Hey Lyle,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear/find you weren't able to make it to see Keller after all.... I can't promise it will help, but I've finally posted notes from my visit with Keller in Feb. 2004.
