Couple (well three) wines I cannot get my mind off today

Today I tasted three wines from Egon Muller and I cannot stop thinking about them. The '03 Kabinett and Spatlese and the '05 Auslese. All of these wines were monuments to their respective vintages. The '03's were the best I have tasted from the vintage. The acid was there and really caressed your palate but did not some deficient to me in any way. Just lovely wines with perfect harmony and integration. The 2005 Auslese was perfect wine for me. Juicy and concentrated with so much power and so much in reserve but incredibly joyous to drink now. Hauntingly beautiful wines that are expensive but for my mind worth it because no one in Germany really does what Egon Muller is doing. There is just something THERE that is just not THERE in any other German Riesling. They know and they charge accordingly. I will pay accordingly!

  1. for the longest time USQ has had the 05 Egon Muller Spatlese. what do you think as intrinsic quality, rather than QPR at around 80$
