A quick update . . .

The 2002 Clos Rougeard Saumur "Breze" that I gave a bad review in my post improved dramatically over a night in the fridge. Last night it was clean, crisp with some light oak notes. Reminded me of a killer Meursault. I loved it. I still have some for night three which will be tonight. If you have any of these let them sleep for ten years minimum. It is amazing what a night in the fridge will do to a structured disjointed white wine.

  1. I've had one bottle ever of the Breze. It didn't impress, but I too wondered if Some Years From Now things might be different.

Btw, I opened a 2000 Clos Rougeard Les Poyeux last night. Was quite good, but really needs more time.

  2. That's very interesting that the Breze could undergo such a dramatic transformation overnight. We've enjoyed reading your blog for some time and, while newcomers to the world of oenophilia, we have decided to try our hand at discussion of wines. Thanks for all the great, detailed, and instructive wine writing!

  3. Not surprised at all. Should be even better on night three.
