The Top 10 Rap Songs That White People Love

Perusing over this site that was linked by Keith Leveneberg led me to this post which lead me to this post about the top 10 Rap Songs That White People Love. And as a rap fan and as a white man it is true and funny as hell. The rest of the site is worth looking over too. Thanks for the link Keith!

As an aside House of Pain is on this list and they are vastly underrated and are much more than just Jump Around. All their albums are worth purchasing/downloading. Been really feeling them recently. There is a darkness there that I find appealing and I love the rasp of Everlast. Great basslines in the production too.

  1. I would have figured "You Gots to Chill" by EPMD or some "Eric B. Is President" would have made the list...

    I demand a recount!

  2. I think Coolio got a raw deal...

Also, whoever compiled the list makes fun of discos in "Ecuador and other backward countries". Gotta wonder wherre s/he live that's so "forward".

As a white Cuban, I must say that, though there are a couple of tracks on the list that I have occasionally enjoyed, I am dismayed at not finding the various stages of Michael Franti or Guru's careers represented.

  3. I think Ice, Ice Baby and Baby Got Back are especially true. It's very fashionable to hate on Vanilla Ice, but guess what, that song was a smash hit for a reason - white people loved it.

It's funny how one could never tell if it was Ice, Ice Bay or Under Pressure coming over the radio waves until the lyrics started.

  4. Manuel,

This person is probably from America that is making fun of Ecuador. Although I wouldn't want to mess with Ecuador now.

  5. Lyle,
First off, I'm glad you're back.

Second, I may be the third whitest man in America*, but real hip-hop fans need to show love for these artists. Now if I had been miffed by the absence of Brand Nubian or King Sun...

*After Kelly Tripucka and Chris Dudley.

To all you haters, I'm going to go enjoy some '06 Chiroubles and some Treacherous Three.

    Best, John

  6. By the way, Lyle, there's a group on Facebook that is pretty illuminating... It seems a vast quantity of wine geeks and wine professionals in Venezuela are, in fact, women.

A refreshing find. Just à propos of the Ecuador bit. And I wonder what Chávez thinks abotu the female wine geek situation in his country.

  7. regarding white rappers, or any rappers really,

wouldn't it be nice if all the other goofy rappers out there making great music got mentioned every once in a while?

i mean, you like esoteric wine, right? why not enjoy some unheard-of rappers, like, now?

  8. Vanilla Ice is a great American rapper. He has a very humble and down to earth personality. His daughter dusti rain van winkle is also doing great as a social media celebrity. Thank for sharing this informative article with us for free.
    Keep it !
