Top 10 Wines I've Sold at Fass Selections I wish I'd Bought More Of According To Me

So the theme of this list is very focused on me and my personal cellar but I think many long time
customers can relate. What do you buy enough of and what don't you? It's like looking back at a football season at your picks before and then who actually made it and won the Super Bowl. It's been almost 4 years we've been in business and these below are the the top 10 wines I had unlimited access to but just didn't buy enough of. Usually I found this out by drinking the last bottle and being blown away. The last sip and/or bottle is always the best.

1. 2010 Herve Murat Bourgogne Haute Cotes de Nuits "Les Herbues" - I am actually cracking this tonight as it is my last one and there no more. Herve has sold the winery to his brother and no longer makes wine. It was the first wine we sold and not only is delicious and holds sentimental value (sku 1 forever) it might have been the greatest under $20 Burgundy value ever. $18.99 on a 6-pack. I should have bought a case as it also went through a brutally closed phase for a few years.

2. 1995 Martin Müllen Krover Paradies Auslese Trocken - I only bought a bottle. No idea why. I think I wanted everyone to try it. We also oversold it and that cut into my allocation. Anyway it's gone at the winery and in a great place now from reports I've heard. I haven't had in years. But I do have and love the 1998.

3. 2012 Metras Fleurie VV - Simply for the reason I had no idea I would never sell another vintage as it has lurched back into ungettable status. My bottle was terrific. And I had another one at restaurant in Burgundy and I made Nicolas Serette drink it with me at Mangevins. He never had a wine like it.

4. 2010 Henri Gallet Cote-Rotie - Great vintage I went too short. 6 would have been better than 2 here. It's in a great place now I've heard and I only have the 12, which is great but not the '10. It was just so open young I had to drink it.

5. 2011 Thomas Bouley Volnay 1er Cru "Cailleret" - I still remember tasting this at the estate and my mind being blown. I took 3 bottles. All drunk. This was just so unbelievably delicious and I did not know at the time that 2011 was the only vintage that I would work with Thomas Bouley. C’est la vie.

6. 2012 Herve Murat Bourgogne Hautes Cote de Nuits "Clos Duc" - in the short winemaking career of Herve Murat (almost like Jim Brown in the NFL or Jean Vigo in the world of film, or Koufax from 62-66) he made many a masterpiece but this 2012 Clos Duc was the stunner of all stunners. It truly drank like a Vosne Romanee 1er Cru. The wine was so deep. So rich, so fresh, so much fruit and volume. Dark fruits. Brilliant wine. I miss it.

7. 2012 Battenfeld-Spanier Mölsheim -  This is an amazing place now and along with the ’15 is my favorite Mölsheim. But they did hold back 5,000 bottles and hopefully I can sell it again! I had so much access. Oh well, live and learn.

8. 2008 Brice Bouzy Grand Cru - Still have one bottle left but man oh man is this an insane wine and I should have gotten a case. That ‘08 vintage is fire!

9. 2012 Enderle and Moll Liason - I miss that wine like one misses the "one that got away." An unforgettable dream of a wine. Wish I could track it over the next 10 years.

10. 2005 Yann Alexandre Brut 1er Cru - I only got one bottle and don’t know why and drank it with a client and it blew my mind and I then proceeded to bash my head against the wall for the next 3-4 hours asking why I did not get more.
