6 Questions with Tobias Feiden of Materne & Schmitt (Marbleous) in Winningen, Lower Mosel

6 Questions used to be a regular feature that I used to adore reading in the Sunday NY Times Magazine. Now I want to bring the format to Fass Selections by featuring our favorite wine producers and their candid responses to questions. I love this format as it extends beyond the traditional wine questions and shows am irreverent human side to all the people I work with and work with us. I hope you enjoy this series and the latest installment is Tobias Feiden of Materne & Schmitt in Winningen, Lower Mosel. This is a smart man. His wines arrive this spring!
1- What was the last great wine you had that was not one of yours?
I have had a lot of great wines, but Domaine Caroline Morey, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Caillerets" 2014 was really impressive.
2- What was the last great meal you had?
Every meal is a great meal, as long as it is cooked with love ;) !
3- What are you currently streaming on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon that you really enjoy?
I’m currently watching the 3rd season of Fargo on Netflix. In my opinion it’s a brilliant movie and a great series!
4 - If you were prohibited from making wine, what would be your dream job?
I would love to be a chef, but only in a restaurant with 8 seats, otherwise it would be too stressful.
5 - What is your favorite wine region that is not yours or ones you currently work with?
That’s a hard question, today I would like to have a burgundy in my glass maybe tomorrow I would choose something else.
6 - What do you think is the biggest problem for winemakers today?

Patience!!! I think that’s not only a problem for winemakers today. The world has changed in a way that everything has to be fast and perfect at the same time. In my opinion that doesn´t work. I think patience is the key for life.
