
1 - What was the last great wine you had that was not one of yours?
2010 Chateau Bel Air (Margaux) is last the great wine I had. I did enjoy its smooth and delicate tannins. The occurrence of the tasting was also worth noting. One Bordeaux negociant brought the bottle and I did enjoy the moment of sharing our common passion around wine, while discovering a new wine, and doing business. It’s all about timing…
2 - What was the last great meal you had?
The last great meal I had was one I shared with twin cousins of mine. I hadn’t seen them for years and they shared their stories living all around the world. We had lamb – produced locally in a farm in ardeche-. Lamb was cooked by Lionel (who works with me) with vegetables. We had my 2009 red Hermitage – our first millesimal. A feast for the senses, and a journey throughout the world, and a family reunion. The combination was unique.
3 - What are you currently streaming on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon that you really enjoy?
I enjoy watching shows focused on nature, older civilizations or anything that relates to living close to nature. I’m especially fascinated by nomadic lifestyle. I love wild wide open spaces !
4 - If you were prohibited from making wine, what would be your dream job?
I would have enjoyed being an architect. Adapting lodgings to their natural surroundings offers endless possibilities
5 - What is your favorite wine region that is not yours or ones you currently work with?
The Châteauneuf du Pape neighborhood. The light is splendid, colors are intense, and soils are incredibly diverse. I love Provence’s luminosity, the smell and the cicadas’melody. Large typical regional houses, olive trees succeeding to vineyards, and an ever-clear sight (thanks to ever whistling local wind, the “mistral”). It is a warm and chanting atmosphere; many famous painters captured this unique setting.
6 - What do you think is the biggest problem for winemakers today?
Climate change. It’s already at work and will alter our wines. It also shows that our planet is fragile and deserves more care…just like wine does
