1- What was the last great wine you had that was not one of yours?
The last wine that deeply impressed me was a Clos St.-Jacques of Armand Rousseau. It was vintage
1991 and I shared it with a few good winemaker friends on a trip to Sylt.
2- What was the last great meal you had?
That was definitely the traditional goose dish on Christmas, when the whole family came together enjoying great food and wines.
3- What are you currently streaming on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon that you really enjoy?
Stranger Things
4 - If you were prohibited from making wine, what would be your dream job?
That’s hard to say. I guess penalties would have to be very severe to inhibit me from making wine. But in that case I think I would become a cheesemaker.
5 - What is your favorite wine region that is not yours or ones you currently work with?
I appreciate Burgundy and Piemonte.
6 - What do you think is the biggest problem for winemakers today?
Today, winemakers that aim to produce extraordinary wines which show their terroir are increasingly exposed to the severe effects of climate change. As a matter of fact with the vintage 2018 we are now facing the earliest picking season we have ever had. On the one hand things are getting earlier and earlier, on the other hand there are more extreme weather phenomenons, such as hailstorms, heavy rainfall and an intensifying solar radiation.
