You Can Never Have Enough Martin Müllen in Your Cellar - This Is The Wine to Buy!!!
Why can you never have enough Martin Müllen in your cellar?
1) The wines are always great (see the sidebar for the reason why).
2) They go so well with food, Müllen is almost always going to be a top 5 choice for any non red meat dish.
3) You will drink as much as you have pretty quickly and run out.
This is the final 2019 Martin Müllen dry wine of the vintage and it is a doozy. Every vintage Martin makes there is always one dry wine that shoots way above its weight class and becomes a highlight even if it is at a low pricepoint. Today that wine is the 2019 Martin Müllen Krover Paradies Spatlese Trocken** for $30.99 a bottle on a 4-pack and $28.99 a bottle on a case. While we can all agree that the Trarbacher Hùhnerberg is Martin's best and most king lives vineyard we have never really discussed what is the next best one?
For me it's usually the great Krover Paradies. A lot can be said for Krover Kirchlay or Krover Letterlay but
I'll always have a soft spot for the Paradies. We sold oceans of the 95 and 98 Auslese Trockens when we were just starting with Martin and I must have drunk 2 cases total of both those wines and most bottles were phenomenal but that was when Martin was learning the ropes. Now he is a much more talented winemaker and his Paradies wines are worlds better than those 98's and 95's. There is an immediate crystalline purity to the Paradies wines plus a brilliant drinkability factor on release. They are super crunchy and giving but also has major backbones. It's such a wonderful site and because it's Martin's so called "B" vineyard it's priced very very reasonably. I gave this a 9.6 on Delectable and it was one of the easier 9.6s I've given out.

Wow. Yowza did Martin rock 19.
Nose is insanely complex with citrus up the wazoo. Herbs as well. So mineral but wow the herbs really are distinct and stand out. Fresh herbs and dried herbs. Smoke as well. So linear and just so much aromatic nuance. It's one smell after another on top of another and so on. Outrageous aromatic complexity. As we all know by now Martin's Rieslings are always better on the 2nd day and this did not disappoint. Nose has crazy complexity and depth, spice and herbs today and is really complex, vivid and nuanced.
Wow that palate is dynamite. Just stunning and so pure. Amazing delicacy. What refinement. Martin really made the most refined wines he ever made in 19. Almost like a 16 but better acid and more energy. Wow, what stature. Structured and powerful with awesome depth and freshness. Really insane energy and purity. This is fresh like nothing else. The 2019s maybe the freshest wines Martin has ever made. Epic, endless and super delicate finish of citrus and peach flesh. What a wine. Can be drunk now but in a decade. Watch out! Just insane concentration and purity. Such a special wine.
On day 2, insane energy and freshness on the palate. So juicy and engaging. So sappy and pure and one of the cleanest and most Keller like mullens I've ever had. Just stunning. Terrific structure and grip. Amazing crystalline purity. Balance is impeccable. Drink now through 2045.
Below is the 93 point review by Piggott.
"Those who like peachy dry Mosel riesling need look no further than this ripe but well structured wine that has just a hint of exotic succulence on the mid palate, but also crisp mineral acidity that makes it very clean at the long finish. Drink or hold." 93 Points Stuart Piggott
