'04 JJ Prum Berkasteler Badtstube Spatlese Feinherb - A bit of sulfur upon opening but that quickly blew off. This wine really did not get going until the second day when soaring aromas of slate, green apple skins and stone fruits appeared. The palate was crisp and clear with great concnetration and juicy apple, lime fruit. Crunchy minerality and nice depth of mineral-tinged fruit on the finish. A great wine and truly an interesting expression of dry Mittle Mosel Riesling.
'04 Eric Texier "Domaine de Pergault" Brezeme - Nice complex nose of exotic spices, incense, cassis, blueberry and olive. Palate is very perfumed and deeply concentrated with a brooding sense that this wine has much more to reveal. There is alot of material here but this needs many years to come into its own. Very good wine now.....perhaps very great wine in 5-10 years.
'05 Rebholz Kastanienbusch GG - This wine was absolutely singing when it was opened. Just stunning nose of chamomile, orange blossom, peach pit and tons of minerality. The palate was rich and deep with a pillowy texture and great concentration of fruit along with a neverending finish. The essence of Riesling. Then SLAM!! . . . .This wine just went into hiding and never came out. Not sure but from a vertical at the estate I would say revisit in four or five years as the 2001 was really singing in that vertical. Great wine but needs some time to get back into view for longer than ten minutes.
