"In addition, I cannot recall a time when red Burgundy prices were so reasonable in relation to other wines on the market."

Crazy sentence right? Obviously this does not apply to the current market. Kermit Lynch said this in his July 1998 newsletter before he offered the 1996 Maume and Chevillon wines. My how things have changed. "The Quickening" is not only related to technological leaps. In 9 years the price of Burgundy has left most other wine regions in the dust. Village wines from Cote de Nuits are $50 minimum and from the better producers $65 and up. Solid 1er Cru's in '05 start at $75-$85 and the good 1er Cru's are $100 entry fee and most of the great ones are $175 and up. Grand Crus.....the sky is the limit. Let's say 2009 is a great vintage like 2005. Will great village wines from Roumier, Rousseau and Mugnier be $100-$150 a bottle? If so it will be Bourgogne Rouge splurges for me!
