Thoughts on wine and whatever strikes me at the moment. But it's mostly about wine.

My first dissapointing '05 Red Burgundy - Voillot '05 Bourgogne Rouge "VV"
Yes I have been beating the drum relentessley when it comes to '05 Red Burgundy as it truly is the real deal but there are duds as there are in every vintage and this was a big dud. Green, mean, tart, tannic and acidic. Really just evil wine and not in a good way. Around every ten sips you thought it was going to come around but it never did it just went into a darker hole. It's weird as his Volnay 1er Cru "Champans" was out of this world. Live and learn. Up next is '05 Lafouge Auxey Duresses 1er Cru "Climat du Val." Gilman went nuts over these and I loved the '02 Les Duresses so I am poised to make up for the vile Voillot.
What's the wine Lyle?

That sucks. I really liked the 04, and on that basis I jsut bought 4 bottles of the 05 from your shop. Wish I'd read this first.

I will open one soon and let you know what I find. By the way, I agree with you completely about Brun VV L'Ancien - amazing stuff, and at that price?!?
