We also popped a lovely bottle of the
2001 Max Ferdinand Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spatlese which was drinking beautifully. Granted Richter is not at the top of the heap when it comes to Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr (Haag, Lieser) but he makes a nice early drinking version. This wine was stuffed when it was young but now it has mellowed out and has notes of petrol, slate and blue fruits. Acidity was nice but not as piquant as I remember. Very pretty elegant stuff and something I will not hold onto for much longer. Maybe three more years.
