So had a boatload of Riesling this week (more notes to come on my mega-geek Riesling tasting soon!) and wanted a different white wine so cracked open a
2002 Matrot Meursault and it was a tough transition. It had good elegance and fruit but the acidity seemed to stick out and it had hard edges to it. Have had a couple bottles of it before and they showed better. But then again I could possibly be not showing as well because my mind was still in a German Riesling and I was prepared not to like it. Although I doubt that because I take every wine in its own context as it did come from my cellar and at one point I liked it enough to buy three bottles and three half bottles. But then again I used to buy Scavino 8-10 years ago. Who knows but honestly with white burg these days if it is not Chablis or Chevalier/Batard/Monty it is getting increasingly tougher for me to appreciate.
is that so unusual?
