Breaking News: Johan Santana is a Met! (Nearly)

Johan Santana was traded from the Minnesota Twins to the New York Mets today for prospects. For the deal to be complete, the Mets need to sign him to a long-term, big-bucks contract. They will. New stadium coming up, and as my Dad says, people will fill that thing everyday with a rotation of Santana, Martinez, Maine (who was insane in his last start!), Perez and Pelfrey. That is contingent upon if Perez gets more consistent and lowers his walks, Maine becomes a bit more dominant, Pelfrey fulfills his potential and has a breakout year and Martines does not get injured. Yes this is a great day, as the Mets now have a legitimate front of the rotation stopper pitcher. But if things click they might have a nice little run. No more collapses and a lot more confidence due to Santana. Still the Mets have Santana. And . . .oh yeah the Giants are in the Superbowl this Sunday. Happy anonymous?

  1. Don't forget El Duque, he still can give us at least 120+ innings for the 08 season...
