My Favorite Pinot Noir Values - You Won't Believe Them Until You try Them

What if I told you that the absolute best value Pinot Noir I have had since Fass Selections opened was not from Burgundy. It's weird I know as I sell a lot of killer values in Burgundy because of my direct from the winery business model.  But this wine will change your perspective on what Pinot Noir can be
more than any other I've sold.  We all know that legendary wine critic Jancis Robinson is a fan of Enderle & Moll.  She was ahead of the curve and the 2012 Liason is their best version yet... by quite a bit.

I recently opened a bottle of the 2012 Enderle and Moll Liason for two restaurant professionals with excellent palates. As soon as I opened this and poured it for them, mouths were open agape.  The aromas were just out of this world. So distinctive and soaring out of the glass like great Burgundy, but the actual smell was so classically German, yet also different from any German Spatburgunder out there.  This is not a light, perfumey Burgundian Pinot.  Think Gevrey Chambertin or Romanee St Vivant.  But it does what great Pinot Noir should do; wow you with its aromatics. The nose is deep, almost brooding and incredibly layered aromatically and so deep we did not take a sip for about 15 minutes. Just oohing and aahing about these, no other way to say it, profound and noble aromas. Red fruit all the way but a particular depth you only find in the great Pinot Noirs of the world.  I know that I am comparing this to wines that cost 2-3 times its price but you have to understand that most of the price of these wines is the cost of the vineyard; and vineyards in Baden cost a fraction of what they do in Burgundy.

After 15 minutes, we actually got around to tasting the wine.  It has palate of uncommon depth and elegance with incredible depth and wonderful crunchy fruit as it opens up. Beautiful lacey and nuanced texture that, again, only the best Pinot Noirs have. Make no mistake, just like many other Fass Selection Pinots it needs a ton of air to fully realize itself. A couple of hours. It just gets better and better. Crunchy, lacey, elegant, with a beautiful richness if that makes sense. And the color. Beautiful light Pinot color almost like a Truchot. Anybody who loves Pinot Noir who hasn't tried this wine has to. It's not even a debate. Forget everything you have heard about German Pinot Noir being lavished with oak, highly extracted or on the other end of the spectrum being green and weedy. This wine is none of those things. It is the future of German Red Wine. Sven Enderle and Florian Moll are way ahead of the curve. My hope is German Pinot producers taste and drink these wines and maybe adjust their winemaking to show how transparent, aromatic and sexy Pinot Noir can get with great terroir and minimal intervention in the cellar.

I knew immediately I had to offer it again. Combine that with the countless requests for people to get more of this wine I secured some more.  I am thrilled and giddy and jumping all over my apartment to re-offer the 2012 Enderle and Moll "Cuvée Ozzie" for as little as REDACTED on the 4-pack. But I have a feeling many of you will be ordering way more than 4 bottles. But wait....there is more.

In fact it is so good I am rebranding it as a Cuvée Ozzie. Make no mistake it is the exact same wine that you all have been writing me about and asking when I will offer it next. It will just say Cuvée Ozzie on it. No picture of him. For those of you who don't know, Ozzie is my cat. He is about to turn 20 in December and he is a marvel. He exceeded my expectations in so many different ways and is a very special cat and so near and dear to my heart. So only the best and most special/unique/distinctive wines will get a Cuvée Ozzie designation. This is the second.

As for the second wine... I'm not a fan of rose. There I said it. I can recognize a good one but I prefer not to drink them unless they have bubbles. It's just a preference. Nothing more and nothing less. But enter the 2013 Enderle and Moll Spatburgunder Rose "Cuvée Java."  This is the best rose I have ever had. Yea, there's Pradeaux and there's Crochet but I have never tasted anything like this. It really is a red wine masked as rose. The balance of this wine is extraordinary. Just glides on the palate but the the concentration and waves of fruit assault your palate and the finish is very structured. I am proud to offer the 2013 Enderle and Moll Spatburgunder Rose "Cuvée Java" for as little as REDACTED a 4-pack, but just like the Liason I have a feeling you will be buying more than 4 bottles.   The wine, as one my clients said, is "Sunshine in a bottle."  He also said it took 3 days to full realize itself. That is insane. A rose that takes 3 days to open. Yup. Only at Enderle and Moll. Java is Ozzie's predecessor and I needed to also brand this wine as well because I love this rose and plan on buying a case as it is such a great deal.

Please e-mail lyle@fassselections.com for pricing. It's complicated.
