what to sell. The 04 this time last year was an electric wine with brilliant minerality in harmony with waves of fruit and the beautiful crisp 2004 acidic kick. The 2005 had all the parts but still had a hint of wood. I decided not to sell it as I wanted to wait until it was ready. Fast forward one year and I tasted the 2005 again and was blown away. While the 04 has more obvious minerality the 05 is riper and more in the classic Grosses Gewachs style.
The 2005 is an integrated masterpiece showing what aged German riesling can be. A hint of tropicality on the nose. Balanced richness, integrated acidity and minerality on the palate. Just fills the mouth. Persistent finish. Just an absolutely delicious, spectacularly well made wine. An iconic aged dry German riesling for those who want to see how Keller's wines can age. Today I can offer this wine at the insanely ridiculously low price of $24.99 on the 4-pack. The wine should cost $40 or so on release. This is an insane value.
This has perfect provenance and has been perfectly warehoused in California since release. I stumbled upon this stash which is the same stash as the '04 and '05 Von der Fels which I can see by e-mails and social media many of you are enjoying. I am very lucky to be able to offer this wine. I have an ok amount. Put in your requests and I will do my best to fulfill them. I will allocate these wines on Thursday.
For those of you who do not know, Klaus Peter Keller is considered by many to be the finest winemaker in Germany. His G-Max goes for north of $500 a bottle, making it one of the most expensive white wines in the world.
This wine is ready to ship (once the weather cools down a bit).
2005 Keller Spatlese Trocken "S" - $26.99 ($199.96 4-pack) (LIMITED)
