Perhaps Our Best Grand Cru White and Red Burgundies He Only Makes Grand Crus and Premier Crus in Tiny, Tiny Quantities Hand Crafted Works of Art Truly Stunning Wines - Only US Offer

I was going to do two separate Remi Poisot offers this year but he got so affected by the hail of 2013 that my allocations were so small that I had to lump them all together and make it one large e-mail. I
didn't even get any St. Aubin 1er Cru in 2013! Aloxe-Corton had it rough in 2013 from mother nature's wrath for sure. But what remained after the awful hail storm was nothing short of sensational and I am thrilled to offer Remi's brilliant 2013 collection. These are probably the best 13's I have offered yet, but the quantities are tiny. I want to apologize in advance as many of you will not get what you want, but don't fret as 2014 and 2015 look like they will be bigger in terms of production at Poisot.

The name of the winemaker will never, ever impress anyone in the US; he has a miniscule 3 ha of land (mostly Grand Cru with a small amount of Premier Cru) and only a very small amount of bottles as the Grand Crus get imported into the US every year and I get them all.  So these are wines to drink by yourself or with your most discriminating wine friends.  They will definitely win the "Oh my God! Where did you get this?" award at any high end Burg tasting.

The style here is true vin de garde in the sense that they will reward cellaring. But they can be drunk young, but I really won't recommend it as they are so much better with age. They close and open pretty frequently from my experience but killing a baby in the name of science is something I can get behind and why I offer 3-4 packs. One for science.  The beauty of Remi's brilliant terroir won't show till these have some age on them. They have terrific structure, purity and balance but the Grand Crus need much time. By the luck of the draw the one I have the most of is the 2013 Remi Poisot Corton Bressandes which can be had for as little as $79.99 on a 3-pack. The wine is straight up insane. Classic chewy woolly and cherry infused nose. Amazing cherry aroma vividity. Just a lipstick stank I always get on the best red burgundies. Amazing thrust and intensity on the palate while being amazingly elegant. A balancing act only Burgundy can pull off. Stunning inner mouth and floral aromas. When you swish it in your mouth it becomes very floral and sweet. Complex, sweet and deep palate with big tannins that are ripe and perfectly defined. As impressive a Corton as I have ever tasted. This will be at its best from 2023 on. Can be approached young with a serious decanting protocol.

I have now a pitiful amount of his terrific 2013 Pernand Vergellesses 1er Cru "En Carradeaux" which can be had for $39.99 on a 3-pack. This used to be the premier cru I recommended for case purchases ... not this year as I barely have any.  Pernand was hit very hard by the 2013 hailstorm. This wine is from a Pernand 1er Cru site that Remi describes as "yielding very tannic wines" and perhaps it will age as long as the Corton or longer. Make no mistake, this is a baby Corton with, stuffing, structure, purity and an excessive amount of class. A wine that is finely etched, and just incredibly well made - he puts the same effort into that as he does his Grand Crus.  Damn, I'm annoyed we don't have more.  The restraint and beauty in Remi's wines is evident as soon as you stick your nose in the glass. It has that beautiful not so sweet ample fruit character thing going on that only Pinot Noir from Burgundy can do. Wonderful earthy/mineral character that lasts for seemingly minutes on the palate with beautiful ripe and sweet tannins. Really a brilliant wine and equal in quality to the brilliant 2012.

Next up is the 2013 Remi Poisot Corton Charlemagne, which in one word, is magic. Just magic. It is $114.99 on a 2-pack. These are vineyards that his family, the people behind Louis Latour, gave him, so this is about as good Corton Charlemagne terroir as there is. 2013 also is turning out to be an epic, electric and seriously structured vintage for the ages in the Cote de Beaune. We love 2013 White Burgundy at Fass Selections. This is about the best deal you can get in serious Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne. The wine, when tasted out of barrel, in March I gave my highest rating. Poisot focuses on minerality and the 2013 CC has minerals upon minerals upon minerals. The nose is all mineral. So clearly defined. The texture is as sexy as you can imagine and tension between the fruit and acidity is first class. The acid is remarkable and present yet gentle and serene. It passes the Fass acid test. The finish is as long as the sky is blue (if that makes sense). This is a masterpiece as is not to be missed. This will be allocated. This needs 3-4 years to show well and then can last 10-15 years.

Then we have the piece de resistance, the 2013 Remi Poisot Romanee St. Vivant which can be had for $274.99 a bottle NET pricing. The cheapest RSV on wine-searcher is $449 and Cathiard can be had for $1,700. At $275 this may be the best deal on ultra high end we have ever offered. It is just magic. Perfect wine. All the regality of Vosne-Romanee GC with deep, deep fruit, fabulous complexity, the spine and structure to age 25+ years and dripping and oozing with class. Texture and seamlessness are how I would describe it. A work of art. I only have a few bottles (no joke) so I will have to allocate.
