Mini Rant on Natural Wine
One of the favorite things for people to do on the Internet is argue about natural wine. I did a YouTube video on it here. Lots has been said and lots more will be said but at the end of the day you, who are reading, want to know 2 things.  1) is the wine good? 2) Generally, what do I think of the wine. You're here for my passion. My passion does not reside in how many PPM's of sulfites are added at bottling. Others can argue the finer scientific points of natural wine. I'll be over here saying whether I like it or not. To be clear, when I sell natural wine, I sell it because it's great - not because it's natural.

The Category Killer in the Category FAIL
There is a particular type of natural wine that is immensely popular. White/orange/cloudy wine under $20 that is racy, bright, vivid, pure and alive. Many of these wines are abject failures. Sorry to say. I've tasted many and I generally have a bad visceral reaction to these wines. Harsh, almost acetate like, usually with a little spritz in them and to be honest so many of them taste like medicine my mother used to make drink when I was young.

Enderle and Moll is so far above every person making this style of wine it's remarkable. Their white
wines are vinous wonders and like all superb natural wine, when one is drinking it one does not think about how many PPMs of sulfites were added or how many days there were skin contact. They think, like I do, my goodness this is so amazingly delicious and I need another sip and I can't believe how inexpensive this is. Any great wine that one drinks unless you are a natural wine cult member one discusses how great the wine is in merciless detail in regards to flavor, tannin, acid, intensity, length, etc. How it makes you feel. How it makes others you are drinking with it feel. It is inspiring to drink a great wine.

Today's wine is a great wine and an inspiring wine. Forget the price. This stuff is dirt cheap even with the tariffs. I've saved the best Enderle & Moll White for the last.

The Wine
This is the 2018 Enderle and Moll Weiss/Grau for as little as $19.99 a bottle on a 4-pack and $17.99 on a 12 Bottle case. This is an incredible value.

The wine is very mineral and citrusy on the nose and the palate is a driving nuclear explosive force that explodes like no other wine in my portfolio.

It is like biting into a hypothetical blend of a very ripe red/pink grapefruit and a ripe Meyer lemon. It explodes in your palate and then has stunning stony minerality in the mid palate and uncommon depth. It grows in complexity and weight as it airs. There is not a fresher, more vibrant, deep, vivid, complex wine that we sell for under $20. The wine is revelatory. Combine that quality with the chiseled, dense and energetic 2018 vintage, with its trademark juicy dense fruit and vibrant acidity and you have an epic Weiss/Grau in the making. It is so utterly complete for a wine in which if it had maybe 1 of the 3 things we look for in wines like this, it would be remarkable, but it has all 3. Price, complexity, quaffability. It is the easiest wine to drink in the portfolio and one of my personal favorites as $20 dollars gets you an amazing amount of wine. This was going to be the white wine of the year, but there's not enough. I kept this wine open (a bottle of the 16 recently) in my kitchen to see how long it would last. On day 7, I had my last sip and it was still going strong. That is amazing for an $20 wine. It just gets more complex and more deep. There is something special going on in Munchweir.

This is an even blend of 50% Pinot Blanc and 50% Pinot Gris. It is unfiltered, has a fascinating herbal complexity that also resonates and echoes on the palate with flowers mixed in. It's like a combo of the fruitier Muller-Thurgau "mulller", and the rare and allocated Muller-Thurgau "Bundstandstein."

2018 Enderle & Moll Weiss/Grau - $21.99 ($79.96 4-pack, $215.88 12 bottle case {$17.99!}) (*Including Tariff of $1.32)
