2020 Enderle & Moll Auxerrois - $22.99 ($91.96 4-Pack)

Today is the final two whites in the 2020 Enderle and Moll vintage cycle. This year I’ve managed to get my hands on some of the rare and delicious Auxerrois. I’m not sure I’ve gotten any since 2014. It’s always the smallest production of even the already small production whites and it’s just delicious. Yogi Berra would love it.

The most Chardonnay of them all but still goes through the Enderle & Moll magic white wine making machine to turn Auxerrois upside down while also being so delicious and easy to drink. My 2014 note is not much so I haven’t included it. Bit it was elegant and pretty. Melon fruit. Tangy acids. I have not had this wine since the 2014 vintage and assumed I’ve never get any more but there are very positive notes on Delectable and Cellartracker and you’ve got the brilliant consistency of Enderle and Moll whites which are at once natural and using aspects of that style but above all are delicious which the market resoundingly has agreed with. These are natural whites that all drink. Because they abide by the 2 golden rules of wine.

This is so utterly complete for a wine in which if it had maybe 1 of the 3 things we look for in wines like this, it would be remarkable, but it has all 3. Price, complexity, quaffability and structure! 4 Things! 

The wine is very mineral and citrusy on the nose and the palate is a driving nuclear explosive force that explodes like no other wine in my portfolio. So expressive and smells like a field in Munchweir where the grapes are all from. But it needs maybe 2-3 hours of air to tame the nose. Once it does it's intensely mineral with superb fine minerality and a light/airy feel that is stunning for a wine of this type. his is epic ethereal otherworldly wine. This is Muller-Thurgau from Baden it has a fascinating and distinctive almost Moselian slate vibe that is irresistible. I wish all Muller Thurgau that we all like to make fun of as being innocuous and vapid could transform into the brilliance that is this wine.
