Last Crack at the Epic 2014 Beaujolais Vintage I've Been Drinking These...If You Slept on the Early Offers Buy as Much as You Can Store - These are Delicious, Complex Wines Early Drinking as Well as 15+ Year Agers

I believe this will be on the last few 2014's that I will offer. As the old saying goes I have saved Today I am proud to offer the 2014 Baron de l'Ecluse Côte de Brouilly for as little as $31.99 a bottle on a 4-pack. This is one of my favorite "sleeper" estates as it gets forgotten with all the fame and glory going to the more famous Chateau Thivin, but at the end of the day, in my personal and not so humble opinion I think this bottling, the Garances, compares favorably to the 3 super cuvees from Chateau Thivin (Chapelle, Godefroy and Zaccharie). perhaps the best for last.

The vines are 70 years old, the same age as the VV cuvee. It goes through a semi carbonic maceration and is 70% destemmed. It is raised in barrels of 2-5 years for 12-14 months and the resultant wine is a stunner. Only 300 cases total. One of the best 2014 Beaujolais. Just explosive black and blue fruits on the nose and on the palate. A mid-palate you can get lost in with loads of earth, spice and mineral. Tiny concentrated black and blue fruits with exquisite purity and freshness that fans out on the long, delineated finish. Super long and complex with utmost finesse and zero hint of new wood. A bit young now but excellent and shows its breeding. Will last 15-20 years easy. It is a much more serious wine than the Cuvee Ozzie (the other cuvee I sell) but by no means cannot be enjoyed young. Most Gamay can be.  Can be enjoyed young but also a true vin de grade that can be enjoyed for 15+ years. This is VERY limited as this is the last of his 2014's.

I think the 14's are the best vintage I have worked with in my brief time since Fass Selections opened. They have it all, but one thing I have noticed about them is that they can stay open and improve while being left in the fridge just with a cork for 4-5 days. That is remarkable. They gain in complexity and weight and, who knows they could last longer than 4-5 days but I haven't kept them that long as I usually enjoy more than a thimbleful of wine. Ha!

This is an estate that was founded in 1854 in the Cote de Brouilly. In 1854 it was owned by Tante Yvonne who decided to divide the property into 3 parts: Chateau Thivin, Pavillon des Chavannes and the aforementioned Baron d'e l'Ecluse. The Domaine is only 5 ha and is nestled at the highest point of Mt. Brouilly. For my Beaujolais geeks out there, it is adjacent to Thivin's famed La Chapelle Parcel. It is prime real estate. Perfect southern exposure and a very steep slope. What more could you ask for?
