We are a small company. We have increased to 4 people in 4 years and started with 3 people. Now my partner's wife, Cheryl, also works for us and does shipping. Nick has been here since day 1 doing the accounting and finance and holding it down. Steady as a rock. Matt is just as important as me. Many of you ask me what he does, and the best way to put it is he does everything I can't do. I always wind up telling people "computer stuff" but also he has an uncanny business sense that I bet on and it paid off. Many ideas that drive this company and will continue to in the future come from thousands of phone conversations we have. It's been a wild ride for all of us. We have our bumps and bruises and have had some wounds that will never go away but become a part of what drives us. We've learned lessons and strive each day to improve the customer experience.
Always save the best for last. None of this would be possible were it not for the awesome growers that I represent. From France, to Germany and Italy, each grower is a whole universe to their own. Visiting each one and seeing the vineyards, then the cellar and tasting the wine. Eating, drinking, meeting their families and pets. They are an extended family to me. The European winegrower hospitality is incomparable and I am extremely lucky to have the privilege to tell their stories and share their work with the world. I put my heart and soul into each offer and try as hard as I can to explain their remarkable stories in mere text. I am the voice of these growers and I represent them but also want to communicate effectively so sometimes I let my hyperbole rip. Striking that balance between hyperbole, wine facts, tasting notes and metaphor is a delicate balance but I feel my game has also improved in this as have the skills of so many of these winemakers. Young winemakers evolve very quickly I have learned. Sometimes too quickly and they leave me for greener pastures. Not many at all, as the loyalty of everyone I represent has been a beautiful thing. Getting to know all of them has been one of the great honors of my life. Being able to walk their vineyards with them is absolutely one of my favorite things to do now. When you walk in a vineyard with a grower you learn a lot about them. It's a part of my work I truly love. I'm so lucky I get to do what doesn't feel like work for a living. It would not be possible without you, the growers and my parents. Thanks for continuing to support my dream.
I think what you're doing is great and unique. I really appreciate your ceaseless work and energy. Here's to your continued success! [sound of clinking glasses]
