The headline today is I've never ever sold a wine like this as in my opinion it does not get better than this. Perfectly aged 25 year old Kabinett direct from the estate that can last another 20 years. At 8% alcohol they don't make them like this anymore. I didn't taste it but I grabbed a few cases as soon as it was offered to me. We all love Kabinett but it's hard to age as we all drink it young. Also usually we age the Spatlese/Auslese and up as we don't have infinite room in our cellars. Thank goodness for the Ludes estate. Today we have a 92 Point WA perfectly aged Kabinett from the legendary Ludes estate. The 1995 Hermann Ludes Thornicher Ritsch Kabinett for $37.99 a bottle on a 4-pack. It's very limited. I haven't had it but I've had enough older Ludes to know this is about as guaranteed as a wine gets. Below is the note

from Stephan Reinhardt.

"Aged 25 years now, the bright golden colored 1995 Thörnicher Ritsch Riesling Kabinett offers a beautifully clear and elegant bouquet with matured Riesling aromas intertwined with the delicate floral and flinty notes of dark slate. Light and filigreed on the palate, with perfectly juicy fruit and the crystalline acidity structure of the Ritsch, this is a perfectly balanced and light-weight Kabinett with an inimitable combination of sweetness, minerals and acidity as well as intensity and complexity with lightness, elegance and finesse. A fabulous Kabinett with 8% alcohol and lots of juice and tension. Tasted in October 2020" - 92 Points WA, Stephan Reinhardt

Next up is a wine we all need in our lives. The wonderfully inexpensive, gluggable over-achiever from the legendary 2019 Mosel vintage. I'd rather drink inexpensive Mosel Riesling than inexpensive Muscadet any day of the week. The value in inexpensive Riesling is just crazy in elite vintages like 2019. The 2019 Hermann Ludes Riesling II can be had for $19.99 a bottle on a 4-pack and $18.99 on a 12 bottle case. This is the first of the Ludes 19s. Wow.

What a nose. Pulverized lime rock candy, slate, and mega minerals. Exuberant. Some sweet lime as well. 9.5% alcohol so guessing this is a feinherb. Gorgeous intensity and airiness. Stunning. Just classic Mosel beauty.

Palate is terrific. So elegant and with just pitch perfect sweetness and insane freshness. Terrific acids. Like a lime sweet tart. But stoney. Terrific mid palate heft. Lovely almost velvety tannins one the slatey/sweet finish. Terrific wine. Did I say terrific? The value here is absurd. Gave this a 9.2 on Delectable.
