The Best Wine for a Price You Don't Have to Think About for Any Wine You'll Ever Buy.
Enderle and Moll is the cult winery that every top German collector wants. Their wines are sold for hundreds of dollars in certain top restaurants. They are "top customer only" at some places. Production is incredibly small and it's almost impossible to get the top bottlings. I've only sold the top bottlings to the initial buyers when I first opened. This winery is going to go down in history
as one of the first superstar wineries that defined the breakout of German pinot noir. 2020 is almost the most miraculous vintage I've tasted and cements E & M as the Michael Jordan of German Winemakers in that they just killed it. They are nimble, terrific, elegant, deep, powerful, transparent, delicate, suave, lithe and insanely fruity but in a beautiful refined way. Like 2019 with more crunch, power, refinement and depth. Florian says it's his best ever vintage.
Today I am selling this wine as it is gorgeous and the single best value Pinot Noir I've ever sold in the world in my career from anywhere. An absolutely incredible wine from a top, cult producer for a price that normally nets you wretched plonk from a mammoth industrial winemaker.
2020 is an incredible vintage for E&M. We might only be able to offer the Basis once this year as yields across Baden are so low. Usually we offer twice.
Today I am offering the 2020 Enderle & Moll Pinot Noir "Basis" for $21.99 a bottle and $19.99 a bottle on a case. Pinot Noir this good for $19.99 a bottle? This is a gorgeous wine that speaks of killer Pinot Noir as much as it does a doorway into the Pinot Noir musings of Sven Enderle. That's what it feels like. We taste his creations. It's always fun to taste these brilliant wines in the home of Pinot Noir. This is the best under $20 Pinot Noir in the history of the world.
The nose is incredibly striking off the bat with just a barrage of honey, brown sugar, a hint of sweet herbals, mineral and big red cherries. Loads of spice, resin, pine, clove, early season cherry, sour cherry and showing tremendous complexity. Yes a $20 Pinot can show complexity. Just amazingly pure cherries on the nose after around 24 hours of air with all the spice and resin.
The palate is just fantastic. The 20 has high acid, deep deep fruit (most ever for this wine!) beautiful purity and great to very great length. Very crunchy, very powerful and very mineral. Almost a stoney effect with deep sweet cherry interspersed. Right now showing intensely mineral, but also has the sappy red fruits this bottling is know for once it's open for 24 hours. Elegant tannin. Wonderful. This is deeper and more structured than the 2019, but when it matures, 3-4 years, it will be the knockback King of all Pinots. Just so bright and juicy and absolutely delicious. A wine that makes you just totally thrilled to be alive. And yes, while it is delicious and bright, it has that Enderle & Moll complexity. The spice. The licorice. Hauntingly lithe and beautiful pure Pinot Noir like only E and M can be. Just so delicate and refined. A wine you can knock back on a Tuesday night, after 2-3 years, or serve at a party or even serve to wine geek friends. One can never enough of as well because of the structure. This will last 5-8 years and peak in 2-3.
I'm doing case pricing here because I buy this direct and got a great deal and I want everyone to be able to have enough that they don't need to think about it when they open a bottle. Pizza on a Tuesday? Party for 10? Just want a drink after work? This is the best wine for a price you don't have to think about for any wine you'll ever buy.
