Don't get me wrong I love Breton wines but this had that hazelnut thing on the finish which was an indication of levels of sulfur that were too low. The fruit was clean, concentrated and very pure. The tannins were ripe and sweet and there was alot to like...but the hazelnut thing killed me on the finish. It was slowly dissipating as the night wore on. This is a tradmark of winemakers in the natural wine movement of which Pierre Breton is a leading member. I will re-evaluate this tonight and see where the wine stands but as of now I will not be adding this to my cellar. For what it's worth I love the 2002.
How did it evolve?
ReplyDeleteIt lost focus and became clunky. The Baudry Croix Boisse seems to be the wine of the vintage for me.
