portfolio to have to breathe for 6 hours or what not. If you had a bad day at work or if your team lost in the World Series you just want to pop, pour and enjoy. It needs to be tasty and really delicious with great flavor intensity and the one or two notes it excels it really excels in.
For those of you who buy Champagne, you know that only the occasional closeout drek is under $30. Most $30-$40 Champagne on the shelves is truly wretched stuff concocted in vats the site of Kansas. For those of you who don't buy Champagne because it's too expensive and the $35 stuff is crap, this is your chance to stock up.
Enter the first Champagne estate we ever offered at Fass Selections, the wonderful Marie Demets. I remember like yesterday the first time I tasted Marie Demets. It was just plain delicious. Extremely well made, precise, elegant and full of fruit. Absolutely wonderful Champagnes. Then Pierre Demets showed me the prices and I could not believe it. These are incredible values. Today I am selling my two favorite "I've had a bad day and need something delicious" wines from Marie Demets. I also want to take advantage of the low Euro as well.
First up is the NV Marie Demets Brut Tradition for as little as $25.99 a bottle on a 4-pack (yes, this is actual, very well made, delicious Champagne from Champagne, France). This wine is like a fruit basket in your mouth. Just simply delicious. Ample body and a wonderful mouthfeel from the elegant mousse define this wine. Full of apple and red berry Pinot fruit and wonderful acidity. So clean, so pure. Some nice sap as well and ridiculously easy to knock back. Just a delightful bottle of Champagne. It is just delicious. Mostly Pinot Noir from the '11 and '12 vintages. I get so many emails about this wine and wanted to fulfill those requests of getting these to people by Spring.
Up next is another monstrously popular wine from Marie Demets, the NV Marie Demets Brut Rose for as little as $27.99 a bottle on a 4-pack. It's like sparkling red pinot noir (mostly) with all of the intensity that one would expect. This is NOT a light sparkler - it has serious weight - you can drink it with duck and almost with beef. It has its fans across all of the customer base and palates. It's got tremendous body and intensity, and after around 45 minutes it really opens up into something you can dig your teeth into. And you can. Very vinous Champagne from the mostly Pinot Noir blend. There is a nice delicate minerality that is on the edges of this Champagne but this is about as fruit forward as a Champagne can get. Again, absolutely delicious.
NV Marie Demets Brut Tradition - $27.99 ($103.96 4-pack)
NV Marie Demets Rose "Cuvee Rubis" - $29.99 ($111.96 4-pack)
