The Vintage that Put Them on the Map - Domaine des Beaumont 2010's

As I said in the previous Domaine des Beaumont e-mail, 2008 seems to be when they figured it all out
and 2010 is the vintage that put them on the map. I was very very lucky to secure three wines, including two of their best Grand Cru's. In fact I have offered now 3 vintages of their Clos de la Roche and Clos St. Denis and two vintages of the great Gevrey 1er Cru, Cherbaudes. So people who bought the first two and this offer will have some nice verticals of one of the hottest new Domaines in Burgundy. I have very little of the Clos de la Roche and Clos St. Denis but more of the spectacular Gevrey 1er Cru "Cherbaudes." I offered all three of these wines in the 2012 vintage earlier this summer.

The 2010 Domaine des Beaumont Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cherbaudes can be had for as little as $69.99 per bottle on 3 bottles. It is an awesome Cherbaudes. Plain and simple. Cherbaudes is nestled between Mazis-Chambertin and Clos de Beze, so not too shabby there. The wine is a masterpiece with spice, deep cherry fruit, tons of earth and wonderful snappy refreshing acidity which is what 2010 is known for. The finish is long and persistent with soft yet firm tannins.

The 2010 Clos de la Roche is aged for 15 months in 60% new oak barrels and is just awesome. The nose has absolutely crazy aromatics.  Big in the mouth yet elegant with loads of mineral, blackberry, dessert spices and licorice. A stunning Clos de la Roche for $124.99 a bottle. Another steal for 2010 Burgundy.

The 2010 Clos St. Denis has a nose of blackberry and spice along with black licorice and a regal elegance that I find in Clos St. Denis. Noble aromas for sure. Gorgeous melty tannins, silky texture, sweet fruit and tannin and a long persistent finish. All for $119.99 a bottle, which is another terrific 2010 Grand Cru QPR.

2010 is a wonderful classic vintage and there was a bit more quantity than in 2012. 2012 has more concentrated fruit than 2010 but 2010 to it's advantage has wonderful often dramatic site character and crunchier fruit. Not as dark as 2012 or concentrated but also a bit more ethereal, especially at this level. I think 2012 is more stuffed and will last longer but 2010, despite being a not closed now will drink earlier. I love the stoney minerality that these (2010) wines exhibit. It is just beguiling. These prices cannot be beat for wines of this quality, from this vintage from these fantastic sites. If anyone cares about the French wine press Bettane gave them a 17.5/20 for the vintage which is amazing for France.
